FAQs
What does the process of acquiring a solar installation look like?
Here’s the streamlined process for acquiring a solar installation:
- Provide Your Information: Simply send us your address or Google location along with your latest electric bill via email.
- Initial Assessment: With the details you provide, we’ll prepare a ´quick quote´. If Google Maps doesn’t offer a clear view, we’ll conduct an on-site assessment to ensure accuracy.
- Simulate and Estimate: We’ll create a simulation with a bill of materials and provide you with an estimate based on your needs.
- On-Site Visit and Measurement: Upon approval of the estimate, we’ll schedule an in-person visit to take precise measurements for the panels. Additionally, we’ll conduct a comprehensive electrical installation check to ensure your wiring meets solar power certification standards.
- Deposit and Scheduling: To initiate the process, a deposit is required to order the materials and reserve your installation date.
- Installation Completion: Once the installation is complete, we’ll provide you with the necessary solar certification. This certification is crucial for transitioning your electric contract to ‘autoconsumo.’
- Autoconsumo Contract Activation: With the ‘autoconsumo’ contract in place, you’ll have the capability to supply surplus electricity back to the grid, further reducing your electric bills. Activate your ´autoconsumo´ contract by sharing a copy of the solar certification with your electricity provider. Each provider have their own procedures.

How many panels will I need?
The number of solar panels you’ll need depends on several factors, including your energy consumption, available roof space
Here’s a breakdown of these factors:
- Energy Consumption: We start by analysing your past electricity bills to determine your average energy consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month or year. This will give us an idea of how much energy your solar panels will need to generate to offset your usage.
- Available (Roof) Space: We evaluate the available space on your roof or property where solar panels can be installed. We consider factors such as shading from nearby trees or buildings, roof orientation, and tilt angle. Ideally, we will want to maximise sun exposure for optimal energy production.
We can conduct a site assessment and provide personalised recommendations based on your specific needs and circumstances. We can help optimise your solar panel system for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Do I need batteries?
While not essential, installing batteries alongside your solar panels offers independence from the grid. If you opt for batteries, ensure you have adequate panels to charge them during the day. Additionally, you’ll need a battery-ready or hybrid inverter, albeit these tend to be pricier than grid-tied inverters.
What if I don´t have a pitched roof?
No problem! We have mounting solutions for flat roofs that do not require us to drill any holes.
How long will it take to complete the installation?
Normally we need 1 to 2 days with 2 installers to complete the installation.
How much does a solar installation cost?
The cost typically starts from EUR 6,500 to EUR 7,500 onwards. Depending on your individual circumstances and available government grants, you may be eligible to claim between 25-30% of the installation cost back through your annual Spanish tax returns. For further information, we recommend consulting with your gestoría or accountant. They can provide you with more detailed insights tailored to your specific situation.
What is an autoconsumo contract?
In Spain, an “autoconsumo” contract, also known as a self-consumption electricity contract, refers to an arrangement where consumers generate their own electricity, typically through renewable energy sources like solar panels, and consume it directly on-site. Here’s how it generally works:
- Generation: The consumer installs renewable energy generation systems, such as solar panels or wind turbines, on their property to produce electricity.
- Consumption: The electricity generated by these systems is consumed on-site to power the consumer’s home, business, or facility. This reduces the need to draw electricity from the grid, leading to potential cost savings and environmental benefits.
- Grid Connection: In many cases, the consumer remains connected to the electrical grid to ensure a reliable power supply, especially during times when renewable energy generation may be insufficient (e.g., at night or during periods of low sunlight).
- Net Metering: Depending on the regulations and policies in place, excess electricity generated by the consumer’s renewable energy systems may be fed back into the grid. In return, you may receive compensation or credits for this surplus energy, which can help offset electricity costs.
Overall, autoconsumo eléctrico contracts empower consumers to take control of their energy consumption and contribute to the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. These contracts play a crucial role in promoting renewable energy adoption and reducing dependence on fossil fuels in Spain’s energy landscape.
What kind of warranty do you offer?
The warranty coverage for installed materials varies depending on the brand or manufacturer, typically ranging from 10 to 20 years. For optimal results, we recommend utilizing premium materials such as Fronium, Solar Edge, or SMA. However, we understand that budget constraints may sometimes necessitate exploring alternative options, which we are happy to provide. Rest assured, even with alternatives, we strive to deliver excellent quality and performance.
I already have a solar installation, can I upgrade or expand?
Certainly! If you already have a solar installation, you can indeed upgrade or expand it. With the decreasing cost and increasing capacity of solar panels, there are ample opportunities to enhance your system. Depending on your available roof space and inverter capacity, you can add more panels. In some instances, we’ve even upgraded entire systems, including both the inverter and panels. Get in touch with us to explore the possibilities available to you.
What type of maintenance does my solar installation need?
Solar installations typically require minimal maintenance, but there are a few tasks that can help ensure optimal performance and longevity:
- Regular Cleaning: Dust, dirt, leaves, and bird droppings can accumulate on solar panels over time, reducing their efficiency. Periodic cleaning with water and a mild detergent can help maintain peak performance. In areas with heavy pollution or dust (sandy rain), more frequent cleaning may be necessary.
- Monitoring System Performance: Keep track of your system’s performance through monitoring tools provided by us or through online platforms. Look out for any significant drops in energy production, which may indicate potential issues that need attention. In many cases we can remotely we can assess which panels or group of panels are causing a problem.
- Trimming Surrounding Vegetation: Overhanging branches or nearby vegetation can cast shadows on solar panels, reducing their output. Regularly trim trees or bushes to prevent shading and maximize sunlight exposure.
- Inverter Maintenance: Inverters are essential components of solar installations and may require occasional maintenance. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for inspecting and servicing inverters to ensure they operate efficiently.
- Check for Pests: Inspect the area around your solar panels for signs of pests, such as birds or rodents, that may nest underneath or damage the wiring. Implement measures to deter pests if necessary.
- Professional Inspections: Consider scheduling periodic inspections by us to assess the overall condition of your solar installation. We can identify any potential issues early on and recommend appropriate maintenance or repairs.
By staying proactive with these maintenance tasks, you can help maximize the lifespan and performance of your solar installation, ensuring that it continues to generate clean, renewable energy for years to come.
